Feather banner original for Keystone Kiters

Keystone Kiters wanted a BIG flag banner... REALLY big!

Keystone Kiters, first approached our designer,  Linda Sanders in Wildwood New Jersey 2011 at the American Kitefliers Association’s Annual Convention, with a monster CHALLENGE!!

The Keystone Kiters’ members wanted their special feather banner to be BIGGER and BRIGHTER than anything else, and when their initial design came through – it was gigantic!

(At right – their first drawing compared with the red outlines of our standard 5 metre x 75 cm measurements, as seen in ICE CREAM.)

They already had some smaller beach flags of about 1 metre height, but this new one had to be a stunner, and this time sewn in longer-wearing, flag nylon (Nylon 6.6 polymer) NOT dye-sublimated printing on thinner, see-through polyester.

We at last reached a happy compromise on style, and cutting began.

Starting with a revised 5 metre x 1.4 metre pattern, each fabric piece was carefully cut and welded together.

The full-sized light table was an absolute necessity for this task.

Banner at 1.4m wide - DOUBLE size!

Moving the prepared fabric to the sewing room, the machinist carefully stitched all the seam lines.

Only one slight problem – the fabric was wider than the sewing table, but slow and steady around all the corners produced these neat & exact images.

Sewing the banner - WIDER than the table

From a somewhat sedate-looking sketch on a screen to a completed 5 metre flag banner (which initially presented some major challenges) we can safely say that the end result now POPS!
