DRAGON BOATS meet BREAST CANCER PINK… result?
OzFeathers’ design team were asked to design new feather banners which would showcase the talents and strengths of the South Australian Dragon Boat Racing Team called SA Dragons Abreast, or SADA for short.
From their website, “…dragon boating is a fantastic low-impact, all-ages sport and one of the fastest growing team sports in the world!”
We were given examples of their logo, advertising pamphlets, the website & personal stories.
Their energy & enthusiasm, and the all-encompassing pinkness were contagious, and spurred us on in our work.
Have a peek at how we start with very little, then the steps we take to work towards the conclusion.

Pretty in Pink – how we started
The SADA flag banners needed to reflect their past and present members’ courage and determination, but also appear strong and convincing in the eyes of their opponents.
It’s a RACE, after all!
With the added challenge of international competitions, we wanted their banners to amaze and impress, while at the same time, cause a buzz of Cancer awareness.

Creating the BUZZ for SADA
Everyone’s now rooting for SADA including all whose lives have been touched by Breast Cancer.

NEON SIGN or BILLBOARD? Waving Flag & Feather Banners act like both!
Want to be SEEN by thousands, but don’t want the expense of a neon sign?
With hundreds of cars passing your store every day, are you thinking, “If I have a large enough sign, everyone will SEE me!” ??
Being seen for LOW CO$T can still be done. Here are two easier solutions which are
- Quick to achieve.
- Inexpensive
- Low-maintenance
- Much-less-stress.
First – turn your car into a moving billboard. (Have you seen ours?)

The feather-mobile!
NO Council Development fees required.
NO power bills every quarter.
NO annual inflation worries.
NO daily maintenance – only the occasional wash.
Years of active (bright) exposure.
(Tip – don’t do anything untoward or everyone will SEE you!)
OzFeathers’ car was expertly converted by Sign Boys of McLaren Vale – all we gave them was a logo idea.
Alternatively, if you’re not permitted to SPLASH PAINT over all the exterior walls of your building, you could add large splashes of waving flags – colour the area outside your building, just like Hilltop Pet & Aquariums.

What do you mean, “still can’t see you…” !?!
Flag banners (often mistakenly called “Bali Flags”) don’t need to stay in one spot. They’re colour that’s transportable!
Traffic SEE these banners at a massive 5 metres tall (sure, it sounds BIG, but… isn’t BIG what you really need?!) which weigh less than a 2 litre bottle of milk.

When SIZE matters…
Maintenance? = a light wash every few months.
Less than you’d wash your car.
Strength? = tough enough to withstand rainy days.
In fact, let the rain wash them clean!
Cost? = one espresso per week, average.
Could you cope with one less coffee a week?
Lifespan? = extra-long-life when SEWN (better than printed).
How easy!?
Reliable, stunning, noticeable advertising.
No weekly or monthly bills.
No sick leave, no long lunch breaks.
No Call Centre salespeople trying to offer new deals.
No design or art skills required – OzFeathers’ have design wizards to do all that.
As Oscar Wilde is famously known to have said:
“The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”
Is it time to start tongues wagging about YOU?
WHEN “HILLTOP PET & AQUARIUMS” at O’Halloran Hill DISAPPEARED INTO THE HAZE… they added feather banners for VISIBILITY!
Much-loved pet store at O’Halloran Hill, Hilltop Pet & Aquariums, rang us with a problem. “Traffic on Main South Road can’t see us” said owner, Brett Harris.

So, they HIDE so that customers CAN'T SEE them?
“What do you mean, can’t see you?!?” was our incredulous response! “Your whole building is painted yellow & red! It’s a BEACON on the landscape!”
They pointed out that while there’s a constant flow of heavy traffic, it all zooms past at 80 kmh. The main road is three lanes wide and the turn off road is slightly hidden.
The problem was that their building wasn’t being seen EARLY enough, so they were losing out on customers.
“We need some flag banners! QUICK!” was his cry.
Amazing isn’t it, that a bold, bright, huge building could still manage to disappear into the blur of other shops?
But not any more.
New flag banners have been delivered, using stand-out graphics, biggest size to grab attention and constant waving so they can’t be missed. These new “employees” will give guaranteed everyday performances.

Some FISHY feather banners working hard for their dinner!
Newly-opened nearby neighbour, Cotton Stitches of O’Halloran Hill, also cried, “Help! We can’t be seen! We’re in the shadow of the big yellow and red building.”
With their flair for all things crafty, they’re now STITCHING up increased business. All because their new feather banners are hard-working performers, never taking lunch breaks or sick days.

These flag banners are SEWING for their supper..?
Business owners see this disappearing trick happening all the time.
They KNOW their own products or services are superb, but if they’re not being seen, how will we (consumers) know they’re there?!
